WEBSITE DESIGN FOR SERVICE BUSINESSES
Website design for service businesses, built to book real work
Most contractors and home-service owners get told a website is done when it looks good. That is the wrong finish line. A real business website is finished when it loads fast, ranks for the right searches, sends qualified leads into a follow-up path, and stays secure and current after launch. We build websites for service businesses around that standard, not a template gallery.
What most people think a website is
A homepage, an About page, a Contact form, and a few service pages dropped into a template. If it looks clean on a phone and the logo is centered, the site is "done." That picture is why so many contractors pay for a site, get a pretty one, and never see a single booked job come from it.
Looking good is the easy part. Working is the part most agencies skip.
What a real business website actually needs
A website that books work for a roofing, HVAC, plumbing, or home-service company is a stack of decisions, not a theme. Every one of these has to be right:
- Information architecture that matches how customers actually shop
- Service pages built around real buyer intent, not internal org charts
- Clean, human-readable URLs (no /page-id=327 nonsense)
- Mobile-ready layout, since most service-business traffic is on phones
- Fast load times that pass Core Web Vitals
- Clear conversion paths to call, book, or message you
- Booking calendar or contact flow that does not lose the lead
- Title tags and meta descriptions written for humans and search engines
- Open Graph and Twitter cards so links look right when shared
- Canonical tags so duplicate content does not confuse Google
- Schema markup (Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ)
- Google Analytics wired and tracking what matters
- Google Search Console set up, sitemap submitted, indexing verified
- Web forms wired into the CRM with a follow-up path that catches the lead
- Managed hosting, SSL, nightly backups, malware scanning, monthly updates
Any agency can build a clean-looking site
The visuals are not the hard part. Templates, themes, and AI tools have made a decent-looking site almost free. The hard part is the structure underneath: how the pages are organized, how the URLs are written, how the metadata is shaped, how schema is added, how forms feed the CRM, how hosting and security are handled after launch.
That structure is what makes a website rank, convert, and stay alive. PointWake builds the structure first. The pretty part follows.
Can you do this yourself?
Yes. Pieces of it. Page builders make it possible to publish a site in a weekend. The hard part is not dragging blocks around. It is knowing what pages to build, how to structure them, what metadata each one needs, what schema to attach, how to wire analytics and Search Console, how to connect a form to a CRM that actually follows up, and how to keep the site secure and current after launch.
Most owners we talk to could learn this. In practice, the time cost and the cost of the mistakes you do not know you are making usually beats the price of having it done right.
The PointWake website method
- Map the customer journey before touching design.
- Lock the sitemap and URL structure before writing a line of copy.
- Write copy in plain English around real buyer intent.
- Build mobile-first with fast load and accessible markup.
- Write title tags, meta descriptions, Open Graph, canonicals, and schema alongside the page.
- Wire booking, forms, CRM follow-up, analytics, and Search Console before launch.
- QA across devices, verify indexing, then go live.
- Keep it secure and current with managed hosting, SSL, backups, malware scanning, and monthly updates.

FAQ
- Can I build my own website?
- Yes. Page builders make it easier than ever to publish something that looks fine. The hard part is the structure underneath: clean URLs, fast load, mobile behavior, conversion paths, title tags, meta descriptions, Open Graph, schema, sitemap, indexing, analytics, and a follow-up path that catches the lead. Most owners can ship a good-looking page. Few ship one that ranks and books work.
- What makes PointWake websites different?
- We build websites for service businesses the way an operations team would: information architecture first, then service pages and clean URLs, then mobile and speed, then conversion paths into booking or contact, then the metadata, schema, sitemap, and analytics that crawlers and humans both need. The site looks clean because the structure underneath is clean.
- Is SEO included?
- Foundational on-page SEO is included with every build: title tags, meta descriptions, headings, Open Graph, canonical tags, schema markup, sitemap, indexing, and Search Console setup. Ongoing SEO management (keyword strategy, content, citations, monthly reporting) is a separate service at /marketing/seo.
- Is hosting included?
- Yes. The Website Design & Build includes $99/mo Website Care, which covers managed hosting, SSL, nightly backups, malware scanning, monthly updates, uptime monitoring, and one hour of edits a month. If you already have a site you want kept current, the standalone Website Hosting & Care add-on is $199 setup plus $99/mo.
- Do you set up Search Console?
- Yes. Every build includes Google Search Console setup, sitemap submission, indexing checks, and a clean handoff so you can see what Google sees. We also wire Google Analytics so you can measure traffic, conversions, and the path from search to booked work.
- Do you handle metadata and schema?
- Yes. Title tags, meta descriptions, Open Graph and Twitter cards, canonical tags, and JSON-LD schema (Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ where useful) are part of the build. Crawlers and social platforms get the structured signals they need.
- Do I own the website?
- Yes. You own the domain, the site, the content, the analytics, and every login. If you ever leave PointWake, the site leaves with you. We do not hold work hostage.
- Can it connect to booking and CRM?
- Yes. We embed your booking calendar, wire web forms into your CRM, and set up the follow-up path so a new lead does not sit in an inbox. If you run GoHighLevel (or want to), we handle that integration as part of the build.
- What happens after launch?
- Website Care keeps the site secure, current, and off your plate: managed hosting, SSL, backups, malware scanning, updates, uptime monitoring, and an hour of edits each month. Anything bigger (new pages, redesigns, campaigns) is quoted separately so you know what you are paying for.
